Catalogue Description

The design of steel structural components; beams, columns, trusses, frames, composite members and connections; an extension of stability theory introduced earlier and the development of codes for metal structural elements; details of design.

Course Objectives/Outcomes

The objective of the class is to present and integrate design information on steel components to permit the student to be able to design simple steel structures for gravity, wind, and earthquake loadings.
