Geomechanics, Geotechnical, and Geoenvironmental Engineering

Research in geotechnical engineering addresses a range of topics, including foundations; ground improvement; seismic retrofitting of slopes, embankments, and retaining walls; landfills; below-ground waste containment; and soil cleanup.

MCEER

The Federal Highway Administration is a major research partner of UB's Multidisciplinary Center for Earthquake Engineering Research (MCEER). Established in 1986, MCEER has coordinated more than $120 million in projects. It provides research and training opportunities for CSEE students.
