Overview
Using TRANSIMS for On-line Transportation System Management during Emergencies
The main objective of the proposed research is twofold. First, the research will assess the level to which the TRANSIMS model, in its current form, can be used for the online management of transportation systems during emergencies. Second, based on the assessment results, the research will develop additional functionality needed to take full advantage of TRANSIMS in emergency transportation system management, including developing the functionality needed to allow TRANSIMS to receive real-time traffic information from loop detectors, video cameras and probe vehicles. The Buffalo-Niagara Metropolitan area will be used as a case study.
