Overview
Bridge Damage Data Collection and Analysis
This project is concerned with the development of a database of past bridge damage and failure that can be used in forensic studies. Understanding hazards and their potential destructive impacts requires careful analyses and scrutiny of past events and failure cases. This task is intended to achieve some basic supporting statistics for multiple-hazard bridge design based on nationwide hazard data and bridge failure data collected by New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) and other sources. The obtained statistics will be applied in support of the development of a new method for evaluating and comparing hazards and hazard loadings for bridge design.
