"I work closely with my students on research projects. I also integrate my research work closely with my teaching. Although we are a research university, I believe that our activities as faculty members should be student centered."
Dr. Alan Rabideau works in the field of groundwater engineering, focusing primarily on the development of mathematical models and software for the analysis of groundwater supply and quality. To facilitate such research, Dr. Rabideau and his colleagues in the Groundwater Research Group work in close partnership with the Center for Computational Research, UB's world-class supercomputing site, as well as several other scientific disciplines, particularly geology and geography. For Dr. Rabideau, this dynamic mix is one thing that makes the field of groundwater engineering so interesting.
This disciplinary diversity attracts an equally diverse student body. "We have a very collegial group of students from all over the world, working closely and socializing together," Dr. Rabideau says. "Overall, this is a pretty exciting place to be."
